Follow The Directions

01

Step

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). (5 minutes)

02

Step

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced cabbage and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and slightly caramelized, about 18 minutes. Stir in the butter and season with salt to taste. Continue cooking for another 2 minutes, allowing the butter to melt and coat the cabbage evenly.

03

Step

On a lightly floured surface, gently roll out the thawed puff pastry into a large square, approximately 12 inches. Carefully transfer the puff pastry to a 9-inch springform pan, pressing it gently against the bottom and sides, allowing the excess pastry to hang over the edges. (5 minutes)

04

Step

In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and water until well combined. Stir in the shredded Swiss cheese until evenly distributed. (3 minutes)

05

Step

Pour the sautéed cabbage evenly into the puff pastry-lined pan. Gently pour the egg and cheese mixture over the cabbage, ensuring it fills all the gaps. Fold the overhanging pastry edges inward, towards the center of the quiche, creating a rustic border. Lightly press the pastry together in the middle to secure it. (7 minutes)

06

Step

Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and the egg mixture is set and slightly puffed. Let the quiche cool slightly in the pan before releasing the springform sides. (30 minutes cooling)

For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of Worcestershire sauce to the egg mixture.
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses, such as Gruyere or Emmental, to create your own unique flavor profile.
If the pastry edges are browning too quickly during baking, cover them loosely with aluminum foil.
This quiche can be served warm or at room temperature. It's also delicious cold, making it a great option for lunchboxes or picnics.
